Italian Tailor has three decades of experience and 70 percent of its clients are Hong Kong-based Westerners. It imports most of its fabric from Italy and specializes in menswear, although it does tailor business suits for ladies. You can expect to pay around $5,000 for a man’s suit. The very excitable owner informs us that he is far too busy with his business to create a website!

Jim’s Tailor Workshop
Located in Admiralty for 20 years, Jim’s is popular with, well, everyone! Catering for both men and woman, it often delivers clothing overseas— efficiently too thanks to the very comprehensive website. In store clients can flick through the huge book of material samples before ordering suits, shirts and more, although the tailor is happy to follow your design too. Suit prices start at $4,500.

Maxwell’s clothiers
Maxwell’s Clothiers has been in the custom tailoring business in Hong Kong since 1961 and has established a loyal client base. The company also runs a large mail-order operation for custom tailoring servicing customers in the USA, Canada, Australia and the UK. A suit here will cost $2,880 upwards.

Sam’s Tailor
Be clothed by the genius who has dressed big names like Queen Elizabeth, Michael Jackson, Sylvester Stallone and Sarah Palin. Sam’s Tailor, located opposite Park Lane Shopper’s Boulevard, is run by Sam, who stocks 25,000 different suit materials (with suits costing from $2,000) and specializes in suit shirts, morning suits, riding jackets and ties. Take your designs in for Sam to copy.

Yuen’s Tailor
If you’re looking to have a kilt made, head over to Yuen’s, one of the few places where you can buy a kilt in Hong Kong. With prices starting from $4,800, it takes six weeks to be made. Yuen, who was in military service for 18 years before being stationed in Central for 15 years, also makes all types of suits for men.

Pacific Custom Tailor
A family business established in 1989, Pacific Custom Tailor specializes in men’s business suits, particularly the three-button, single-breasted suit. Made with fabrics imported from Italy and the UK, a typical suit takes two to three days to complete and you can order a cashmere wool suit for $3,300. Ninety percent of its clients are businessmen, but ladies’ tailoring and other items are also available. Pacific Custom Tailor doesn’t have a website but are happy to mail you one of the thousands of samples from their shop.

Punjab House
Founded in 1889, Punjab House is a family business run by Arshad Mahmood who employs highly skilled Shanghainese tailors to create his clothes. It stocks more than 10, 000 materials and specializes in bespoke tailoring with a suit costing upwards of $1,800. Punjab House has regular clients from institutions such as Kowloon Cricket Club, YMCA, Business Chambers of Commerce, English Premier League and Morgan Stanley, and closely follows clients’ instructions on suit design.

Raja Fashions
Established for more than four decades, Raja Fashions owns its own workshops and warehouses, giving it full control over the cost, quality and length of time it takes to have a suit made. Suits for men and women start at $1,800. Leather goods and men’s accessories such as ties and cufflinks are also available. Raja also offers a free hotel or office delivery service.
