Same situation here. I know about renewing H1 with same company is OK but as you have asked with a different company is a big ?. Hope some one answers.....I have appointment in Kolkota but not sure if I should cancel the appointment or go...

I have a question:
- H1-B's I-797 is valid, but visa stamping has expired.
- I use AP document to re-enter.
- I do not use EAD at all
After using AP, can I move to a different company by petitioning for H1-B?
The other question is: Is it worthwhile to go for H1-B stamping when I have an AP?

My only reason for being on H1-B is to have a backup if there is a problem with my I-485 application. I don't want to use EAD, since it will terminate my H1-B status. With the recent retrogression I think its going to be a real long while.
My questions are:

My wife recently travelled to India from Seattle.
At the check-in counter, Lufthansa people insisted that she should pay for the second bag.
Before the day of the trip, we called Lufthansa and confirmed that we are allowed to take two bags (50lbs). There are no other airlines involved.
My wife insisted that she should not pay for the second bag. After some deliberations and confrontations, Lufthansa reluctantly accepted the second bag with no fees.
Sometimes I wonder, where is the end to all this nonsense.

Hello everyone,
I recently filed 485 last week for myself and my wife. I am planning to go to school next year fall. I am expecting to get my EAD before that, but I dont think my 485 will be approved by then. If I go to school, will my 485 be cancelled ? Please let me know.

Michael Aytes, is one of the speaker in this conferenceif a couple of members attend with immigration voice badge on their shirts, this could be a good platform for immigrationvoice as a group to get noticed.
Maybe people who are living around Washington DC neighborhood can attend to represent IV and their registration can be sponsored by IV.
Just a thought. As we push our agenda, IV as an organization must get noticed in more places where USCIS is putting its face on.

Just to clarify...., the advance parole should be valid when you are entering the country, not while leaving right?
Well, I have a current advance parole that expires on October 12, 2008 and I applied for a renewal. Once my AP gets approved (assuming the new AP starts from October 12, 2008) I am planning to leave the country in September (before start of second AP) and re-enter after October 12 using my second AP. I just started using SBI global and I am happy with their services. One question though. I am sending money to my own account. I know we have to declare the accounts more than 10K. Is the interest earned on that money taxable in US ? Another question is , since we are here is that money taxable in India also ? If yes, how do we manage our indian taxes while living here(tax returns etc). Any help would be great.

I am curious - Did you get a receipt notice for your wife? I have E-filed for AP for my family. I have got the paper receipt for me but not for my family. I am wondering if there is a pattern here.

I got the 1st AP receipt notice for my wife with I485 and EAD receipts in about 1 week after they entered our case into the system (September 2007). On October, 2007 she received EAD card but never received the actual approved AP.
I did not apply for EAD and AP. I'm still on H1B

Call your lawyer and get your ETA number. The 45 day letter has your ETA number.
Tell him that you would like that number to track your case using the new BEC online case status search.
Normally he should give you that number, since it is nothing harmful for him and your company.

I received word from my company that my 45 day letter had come in .. this is March 2005. Its more than a year and now they just seem to keep quite. If I persist they say the lawyer has not come up with anything yet.
I tried calling the lawyer but they say that nothing has come up either.
Now with all the talk about September 2007 the finish date for the BEC where do we stand. My lawyer is quiet, my employer is quite and my 6 years are getting close to complete in January 2007.
How are you guyz coping ? I am tired of waiting .. haven't gone past the first stage.
Hoping for the best.
