I am thankful to everyone who read or responded even if you don't agree. Taking it a step furthur there are couple of things that stand out which i think again show how we twist every fact to our advantage.
1) US need immigration to grow and prosper. wel agreed, but who are we to preach. Its for American to figure it out. We don't care for our mother land i:e India but we are first to point out how US will be worse off if it stops immigration. I really doubt the intention here. You know, we care more bout US then India and once we get our GC we probably wont care much bout US either.
2) Saying its a fight for rights and if we don't fight we are cowards. well i agree we are all cowards not because we are not fighting to bring forward all mighty priority dates but because we showed our backs to our own country. We went to public funded IIT and other institutions and then ran away from our nation at first chance. So yes, in a way we are all cowards here.
3) USCIS should be fair to India. If you look closely, USCIS rules are not country specific. Quota applies to every country, but only India, Mexico and china exhaust theirs. Does tell u something doesn't it.

As a core member I thank you all for your support. IV needs your help with two things. First and foremost, our numbers need to grow. Right now we have about 6,000 members, but we all know there are far more people than that stuck in limbo due to backlogs in the legal immigration process.
Why do we need more numbers? Because when we go to talk to people on The Hill (and I live in DC and work here and I go as well), we have to convince them that we are a sizeable chunk of people in terms of our numerical strength that will vote when we become citizens. This is why we need to get working on this immediately. Talk to your family, friends and colleagues who are stuck in legal immigration backlogs, and get them to join IV. Each existing member should get at least one new member to join up. The more, the better.
Secondly, we need more members to become paying members. This is crucial, as all our work requires $$$. Saying "I'll pay when the work is done" does not help us. The work requires a steady cash flow, and while pledges are deeply appreciated, we can't operate merely on pledges. Many core members work very hard on raising money and on publicity.
So, I earnestly request your help in recruiting new members as well as strengthening our funding. Thank you!

I have done a lot of research on this topic and ended up in taking Tata-AIG. Few tips I can tell:
1. Try a high deductible: It brings down your rate significantly down. The way I saw it is, hopefully nothing will happen to my parents and for small things I have friends who can help them out. If there is something big I can afford a part of it and let insurance take care of rest.
2. have a few extra days than what your parents are coming for: say they are coming for 90 days get one for at least 120 days. Also make sure you get policies which are renewable.
3. Check on the insurance website if it covers hospitals in your area. I looked in one insurance where nearest hospital was 35 miles away from my home.
4. Look for ICU and surgical coverage closely as these two coverages are the most expensive and insurances tend to not cover it.
Hope these helps. Good luck with your parents visit. Let me know if you have questions :)

Just curious. Why do you claim ROW is receiving preferential treatment over India when all the countries get the same upper limit of the visas. Now if the Indians ask for more visas just because there are more Indians asking for green cards, wouldn't that be preferential treatment?.
I wouldn�t say ROW is receiving preferential treatment, but they are in an advantageous position due to their representation. I don�t think there will ever be a consensus on the quota issue, both ROW and India/China applicants come up with their own arguments supporting their stand on it.
Personally I think recapturing unused visas will decrease the wait time for India/China applicants without affecting ROW applicants. There won�t be any need to remove quota limits.
And I agree with rajeshalex that this thread needs to be closed. the counter arguments are getting more confusing...

For that matter nothing is an achievement. if Some one gets a baby everyone greets him. Is that an achievement? If you buy a house you are happy. Is that an achievement? For some people coming to US was an achievement. Some people think getting a green card. We see all congratulation message when someone get his GC.
So Please be broad minded. It may be nothing for you. But for some people it is an achievement. People like me are happy by achieving small things. This may nothing for you But it is good reason for the celebration for the people like us.

But i bet you ..you will find your self in the same situation of agony and endless waiting for the final Green card.
I bet most of the people don't use your ead and AP as it puts you in a gray "Adjustment of status". They are good to have though. But you will see...how painful it is to decide to use them or not..
What i want to say is that being able to apply for EAD and AP is not the end of the battle..you will be stuck in a depressing situation waiting for the final green card.How do i know? .. I went through it...waiting for GC for the past 4 years.
I dont know its FBI or its just the USCIS incompetence but waiting in the final stage is horrible. Every time you travel you are scared...AP as for as my lawyer goes IT does not guarantee 100% entry in to the country.
After you apply for AP its only 1 year H1 increments.
What i am saying why dont we try for the overall improvement of the GC processing. Why dont we be firm about not wasting the GC numbers and recapturing the unused numbers.
We had a small revolt (peaceful way) and its successful.We dont want to stop there.

The stated reason for the review falls within the law under Section 221(g) of the Immigration and Nationality Act. Under these circumstances, we typically see that the government issues a notice to the applicant wherein additional information is often requested. Kindly advise if you have received any notification from the consulate on this issue.

For eg.. I was talking to my friend in India and told him about the issues here, he did not understand, he thought I am having a tough time here and told me he has some friends in US who can help me out with immigration problems. When I explained our issues to some people here, some understood and some did not, they told me they know some lawyers who are very good and can help. One of my old employer started a new company in Atlanta and contacted me and asked me to join, but I told him I cannot because I am stuck with my ppresent employer and will lose priority date blah... he did not understand that and was confused.
I had the SAME exact problem, both, with people here (indian citizens who are now american citizens) and people back home. To the point where, once i was addressing a group of my community members and a couple of Indian american people absolutely REFUSED to belive that the Govt wud give illegals a better break than they wud give us, and that it had happened in the past. It took me half an hour and quite a few examples to illustrate how that was true.
About all the confusion with the priority dates. I Myself am confused about this whole Priority Date Nonsense. I mean the part about processing 485's based on PDs makes sense. Why you cannot even APPLY makes NO sense whatsoever. I have tried making a short speech to convey the problem to friends and co-workers. Each time it ends up being so long winded and detailed that it just doesnt make it worthwhile. Midway in the conversation, u can feel the other person mentally Yawning ;)
