The expenses are definitely required - i probably did more renewals and visas than you but that was borne by my H sponsor employers in all cases. Why did you pay on your own ?? Generally peoples who gets paid in Bill rate and make very good money they pay on their own and they don't care 20-25K given the enormous money that they made in 6+ years of H clock.
Regarding GC - my employer paid LC fees, 140 fees and i picked up the fees for 485/EAD/AP because i wanted control on the AOS. I dont want RFE letters to go my employer or their pet lawyer when i've ported off to somewhere else.
Push your employer - why they are called sponsors in H1 based immigration system ?

It was my case. I received a few responses like that (my I-485 has been pending for 3.5 years). I would not take it close to the heart. My case, however, has been approved before Feb 2008 memo implementing 180-days rule for FBI name check.

I was on a "Belgium work permit" which had to be renewed each year and was linked to the employer just like the H1. The renewal process itself took a few weeks. Living and working for 5 years or more allows you to become a permanent resident (Please check again since this information is from 2000-2002 and rules may have changed since then). The Belgium work permit allows you to work in that country but you are free to travel across any EU country (France, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Luxemborug, Germany etc).

Don't go for the ICICI home loan. They are the first ones to increase the interest rate when ever theres a RBI changes the base rate. And the last one to decrease the interest rate when ever there's a base rate change. And some times they don't decrease at all.
They start charging higher interest rate than the fore said rate once you taken the loan from them. On top of it they charge 2% extra for the prepayment amounts. Best is SBI.

your wife is exempt from EAD/AP fees. If you apply online for her EAD or AP, the system will automatically figure that out and will not charge anything additional
Thx for the reply, one final question on the same lines per the reply above, if I were to file online, would the system ask her to go for fingerprinting again, i heard that if we were to apply paper based then we do not need to go again for a fingerprinting session. I got 485 Card production order and welcome notice email yesterday . I am assuming that means I got PR . my company has filed for H1 -B extension last week itself . what will happen to that extension , do we need to revoke/withdraw that petition ?

Since you are a permanent resident (green card holder) now, H1-B petition must be denied. But, it should not matter.

Online tracking or toll-free numbers tracking is really useless. It doesnt say much about the content of correspondence.
The automated messages(online and phone) say one of the 5-6 standard recorded messages. Nothing more. If there is an RFE, its says there was an "Inquiry". It doesnt say what the RFE was about whehter it was about the beneficiary or the employer. If you talk to a live person, they say that you are not entitled to information as you are the beneficiary and you need to talk to the petitioner or lawyer of the petitioner.
What you need is COPIES of everything that the lawyer sends out to USCIS. Preferably BEFORE he sends out that fedex. So that you can verify yourself if they have made typos or mistakes in names, dates, etc.(most common paperwork errors).

When negotiating a new job offer, what does one have verify with HR of the new company specifically with regard to AC 21 portability? :confused:
Most recruiters / HR folks know nothing about AC21 etc. (Most when they hear green card, say per company policy, they will start haver 1 yr!).
Should one ever bother about confusing the new employer about AC21? (Assume that Job titiles and descriptions are practically the same. Nothing drastically different. And taking the new job on H1b transfer. i.e. not on EAD).
(PS: I am not taking from the context of desi consulting firms where it might be easier to get any letter with exact same job description etc.).
I would just check if HR would be willing to provide a letter addressed to USCIS on their letterhead stating about new job title and job duties. Even if you send the letter right after joining or when you (might) get a RFE.

Say you want to search for all the work been done or being done on say "teapot". Normally you type in "teapot" in search bar and Google will dump millions of results. And those results would be screened objectively based on the search query i.e. "teapot". But interestingly, "kettle" is also a synomous for "teapot" but since the search was objectively driven, this subjective association would be excluded. This is just an example, I framed to explain my point.
A quick answer to above would be to include any synomous words, but we all know in techonological world and especially in the IP area, their could numerous ways to hid the information while maintaining it on public forums. If you have been engaged in IP development, you will understand what I am talking about.

There is no uniform rate and people charge what they feel like. If you ask around, you would get good rates.
