Whoo the iMacs are impressive. What speed are you averaging on the computer? I just added my brothers computer to the Macrumors folding.
I just started it today, so I have no idea. I'll see later next week how things go since I'll be putting my dual 1.25 back on the job after it finishes rendering this weekend.

Otterbox Defender and iSkin Revo are the only two that come with built in protectors. There is the LifeProof case (not released yet) that also has a built in protector and is waterproof too.

It's a "rogue" antispyware/antivirus. Lots of them out there. Where did you download it from? You can report it as Malware...

Not to sound harsh but perhaps this will be a painful lesson to always have a backup.

I have a 13" black macbook that was bought in 2007. It has pretty standard hardware, such as 1GB of ram, 160GB HD, etc. However, it has been having problems for about a year now. The first problem it has relates to the computer lagging/skipping. The computer always lags (using a mouse or trackpad). It lags/skips when i'm browsing the internet, playing itunes (the songs actually skip and get choppy), playing a dvd using the DVD player app, and when I watch any type of video on the internet (youtube videos, flash videos; the audio gets choppy and fuzzy). The second issue I have been having is random shutdowns. Sometimes, I will be typing a report or browsing the internet and I will get an error message telling me that I have to restart the computer by holding down the power button. This has happened about 4 times. I think these issues might relate to a bad logic board, but I am not sure. Any ideas? How much does it cost to fix these issues? Thanks
You might have a bad harddrive although the logic board sounds like a possible candidate as well; Are you near an Apple store? if so, you could call them up and see if you could set up an appointment or something...

I meant a frame, not an A Frame.
Regardless does anyone have any ideas?
I realize this is later than you asked for, but here regardless.
In GoLive CS2, in the objects toolbar you can drag in a new object (smart I think) that is .swf, or perhaps it was create a new diagram and then drag the .swf object, not sure. Once that is in, in the properties for the object you would simply find all the related items to that file, then GoLive would transfer copies of them to the website directory and you should be all set. Have you tried the Adobe help for GoLive? I seem to remember this topic or something similar being in there....

Newbie: no need for full name and please do not use caps, it just aggravates us. ;)
You have the iTunes Music Store which is my choice: $.99 + tax.
Another choice is Limewire for all the pirates out there who like to steal music.

might be with Airplane mode on..so no connections are being eaten up by battery. When I only listened to music at work, I could get about 10 hours use time just from music playing and that was with 3G on. I never turn on airplane mode.
Also make sure Wifi, bluetooth, any apps running in the background, push is set to off if you are worried about battery life. Only use those functions when you would need to use them.

iWork Pages has a significant lag in accepting key input to a point that it is a few letters behind. It is proving unusable in taking notes during a discussion with other(s).
Has anyone experienced the something? Is there any fix to this input delay?

What you want is a book on unix shell programming. The oreilly book "Learning the bash Shell" is decent.
When you run terminal you get a unix shell. Most likely the shell you're running in is called the bash shell. It might also be called sh, but the two are similar.
Open up a terminal and type the command:
ps
The right column in the output will tell you what shell you're running. That's the subject you want to learn about.

Converting to a different format should render it inoperable as would burning to a CD and ripping it again.
I expect the vulnerability is only present in the mp3 format and converting also chops and changes the file structure. To see that in action, try converting a file from mp3 to flac and then back again. Then use the Unix diff command to see if you get the same file!

I currently have both at home (lol). I tried using the wireless and it's hard for me to get used to it. I'm not sure why... is there any difference apart from the size. keypad & arrows, between the wireless & wired keyboard? btw I'm coming from a windows pc - which is why I'm finding it difficult :S either way, are the keys spaced out the same way on the wired as they are on the wireless? I know I could try both - but there's no point opening the wired one, if they're more or less the same.....

In all the reviews, the Apple in-ear buds have had a bad reception, as they have poor sound compared to the competition, and the silicone part (the bit which actually goes in the ear canal) is cone shaped [tapered towards the end]), so they slide out of your ear all the time.
For the same sort of price, you might be better looking at the Sony MDR-EX71 Fontopia in-ear headphones. They consistently come top of the reviews for this price bracket on sound quality, and I can attest that they are extremely comfortable and don't fall out. Because they effectively plug your ears and pipe the music right in, they are great for blocking out external sounds, and as you can have the volume a bit quieter, you are less likely to damage your ears. You will also extend you battery life slightly too as you're using less power to pump out the sounds.
They even come in white if you're so inclined! :D

Depends on your budget but I'd definitely look into a Drobo FS. It fully supports time machine backups, although it's performance isn't exactly spectacular (I guess if your using it just for backups and some basic streaming then this shouldn't be much of an issue...).

Those are actually much, much older than the iMac G3. These are early '90s-era. I remember we had a bunch of them with the Mac LC models (original, II, and III) when I was in school. Most of the school ones were worn out or torn up, but I don't think they're that rare (yet? anyone want to clarify?)
Ah, thank you very much!

Hey there, I had a question about external hard drives. I have a USB external drive hooked up to my Mac mini that is mainly used to playing media through Plex. It plays back any files just fine directly from the hard drive, but what is kind of annoying is waiting for the initial boot up time that the hard drive has to go through after it isn't used for a little while. Is there a way to tell that USB hard drive to never go into that "sleep" mode or whatever it does? I unchecked checked the box in my system preferences under Energy Saver that says to put the hard drives to sleep when possible, but I guess this doesn't apply to external hard drives. I just need something to ping it every so often so it never shuts off. Would a FireWire 800 hard drive do the same thing?

I recently started putting my movies on an 120GB iPod because my 32GB iPhone couldn't handle them all.
I've noticed, however, that the movies are all just sorted alphabetically.
Is there a way to group them into folders (as we all do with our music), so that I can keep all of my school videos together, comedies together, tv shows together, etc.?
Currently I have a lot of school/science videos on my iPod and they run the gamut of titles (alphabetically)....from "Acids and Bases" to "Solubility"...so, obviously, there are other (non-science) video titles that iTunes just puts in between those (making my seamless study of all things science a little more kludgy).
Any advice would be great.
Thanks,
J.
